Today’s public health workforce is regularly tasked with responding to complex public health questions that are difficult to answer using traditional data sources. As a result, practitioners are often required to seek out non-traditional data sources. While this process can be challenging, navigating it effectively can bring significant benefits to the communities, organizations, and individuals involved.
In this webinar, developed in partnership between the Washington State Department of Health and the University of Washington School of Public Health, you will explore the value of seeking out novel data (Medicaid data in this case) to address public health challenges. First, you will identify a framework for finding novel data resources. Then, you will consider several use cases for leveraging novel data in public health work with a focus on public health surveillance. Finally, you will learn four key lessons for teams to consider when implementing processes informed by novel data.
